Kolkata! One afternoon while I was passing by Hide Street near Ling Liang Convent School I saw a gathering near the school. I saw people making wooden box on the side-walk and ice sills lying near by .A little farther away some people gathered in front of a shanty. What had happened was that Shahjahan's younger brother who is also the associate of goons I have mentioned in my earlier posts had thrust his 'Rampuri' - large buttoned knife into The stomach of the boy and ripped it apart in the morning. After murdering the boy he went to the Corporation tap nearby and washed his knife clean there and walked away. He killed the boy because the boy's phelgm fell near him and when he started beating him up the boy loosing his control also threw his limbs in fits of anger. The wooden crate was being prepared there to pack his body to be taken to his hometown somewhere in Bihar. This man at that time was around 6ft tall and heavily built and swarthy.
We never saw him disappear or go behind bars.The place where the boy was murdered is a very crowded place. and close to the building at Bow street that was blown up in a blast in which scores of families got burried in the rubble.
I will come to the facts of this incident later. The 40 murder is excluding this one in which officialy nearly a hundred men, women and children got killed and burried in the rubble.

Kolkata: A huge crowd had gathered in front of the single storey dilapidated building situated at Phears lane in kolkata under Bowbazar police station jurisdiction,four boys aged 15 to 18 years were being tortured on the first floor. The head of those criminals moving occaisonly could be seen from the street. The time was around 2 pm .The crowd onlookers kept swelling. The parents of the children were running from pillar to post to stop the slaughter . The news had spread far and wide.The place is overly crowded and street clogged by traffic consisting of rickshaws pedestrians two-wheelers huge trucks parked in front of transport companies and people living by cheeks and jowls. The shrieks of the victims were raising to a crescendo. I was trembling with fear and anger at the state of affairs. I remained there for 10-15 minutes .The sight and sound lingered for years to come fuelling the earlier ones several nights I could not sleep.
The next morning the four bodies were recovered from different places . One stuffed in gunny bag with a wicket stuffed in anus near the institute of health and hygiene at Chitranjan avenue the other At the gate of Islamia Hospital and the rest of the two near Alipore.The other day the Statesman the Telegraph and all the dailies carried the news. The don umar as before was moving freely to the awe of everybody predictably the other 5s khursheed aftab nadeem and rafique surrendered before the police soon they were out of bail and later acquitted a week they shot Sandow Hanif a school teacher who had his school behind Islamia hospital and who could not suppress the call of his conscience and had stood witness the boys were his neighbours and grew before him , was shot dead in broad day light in full view of the public and locals. They again surrendered bailed out and acquitted. This is Kyoto Babus Kolkata. Why were the boys murdered?
One Marwari Seth wanted the land where the family of the boys lived for generations.So they hired the goons to grab the land.The boys had challenged the goons in all innocence that they would not yield to the threats. They were not illegal occupants it was their own house. This is Jyoti Babus Kolkata.

Kolkata ,india Period: Emergency. One day we woke up around midnight by the sound of batterings ,howls shreiks and whimpers. The words:" mago mago" i.e "o mother o mother"rent the air. It suggested that the victims were Bengalis this time. I was having a near spasmodic attack out of disgust, frustration,worry and anger. There is none on the earth who could stop this brazzen blood cuddling torture in the open not even the police. The beatings and batterings went on till dawn.They were 13-14 persons with their hands tied behind their backs and made to stand in one line. The two ends of the thick rope tied to two electric poles across the street. The victims who fell unconsious would be splashed with water and again battered till they passed out. At dawn when muezzins' call for prayer went up, the limp bodies were untied and thrown into a closed van- some in conscious state and some in unconscious state and taken to some undisclosed location. It was not possible for anybody to know who the victims were and where they had been taken to. The spot got soiled with faeces urine vomit and blood which was washed with water. The criminals had herded some early risers and forced them to do the clean up.I know the names of few of the perpetuators. Their names are Umar (the don) Aftab Khurshid Abshaar Rafique Salaam his younger brother whose name I am forgetting, Shahjahan and some others who were not locals. The person probably who had outsourced or contracted the job must have been clever enough. The perpetuators were muslims either of Bihar or UP origin expecting the criminals to be more brutal and barbaric.

This is another chilling incident of another area of Kolkata known as Gardenreach Area. It was the occasion of Hindu festival of holi. In this area a minor clash took place between the Muslim and Hindu ruffians. It is said that some Hindu ruffians had chopped off a branch of a tree from the compound of Muslim family. Exchange of hot talks lead to brick batting with others joining the issue. Mr. I.S Mehta the district commissioner of police undertook a patrol of the area as a preemptive measure in the evening when dusk was about to settle. He entered the narrow lanes of the area with a battalion of armed police left far behind. He was a little ahead of them with his two bodyguards with him. They Mr. Mehta and his bodyguards seemed vanished into the thin air. The other day his body and those of his bodyguards were recovered from an abandoned dilapidated structure in a badly mutilated condition. The criminals and ruffians of the area predictably made good with their escape. The people of the area who were living in perpetual and endemic terror of the criminals again became the target of indiscriminate torture of the police. Men women and children would stand in long queues during evening hours to receive beatings in the police stations and out posts in the name of interrogation. Men after men and women after women come out from the police station crying. Double victims. The perpetuator Md Idris was arrested from the village of one Forward Block minister in West Bengal Assembly. His nexus with the minister was well known.But what made him and his gang members to take such an extreme step is still a mystery. He died in custody the next day before spilling the beans

It was around 4 pm in the evening I learnt that a chinese boy 4 years old was killed by Abdul Rab. Abdul Rab is an associate of Umar/Somen Mitra The member of Bengal Legislative Assembly Gang. Abdul Rab his brother Shahjahan and haroon are notorious killers as well.They maintain their own separate gang based at Damzen Lane Kolkata also under Bowbazar Police Station Jurisdiction.Lal bazar the Kolkata Police Headquarters is 10 minutes walk from here.
The Chinese boy was fondling with the jawa motorcycle belonging to Abdul Rab parked a couple of meters away from his house. Abdul Rab who returned by the time from his home meanwhile. He hit the boy in the middle of his head with a long key which was in his key ring. The boy fell dead like fly on the lane. Abdul Rab went away in his motor cycle without any consideration and remorse.The culprit was never booked. Nor the parent of the victim think of seeking justice for that would only mean jumping in the pit of fire such is the situation in the land of progressive communist in Kolkata the earstwhile british capital of India.

They were seven of them sharing the room next to us with separate entry.The were all bengali muslims in the age range 45-50 ,hailing from rural bengal . They used to sell and repair umbrella door to door. We were born and grew up before them.The Criminals had asked them to vacate the room. So they entered their place. And started hitting them all with thick wooden sticks.They had failed to meet the dead line. It was around 2pm in the night that they started vacating their house of belongings which was the part of the homestead for decades .They started piling up on the side walk panicky fearful and sad with tears blurring their vision. And anger at their helplessness .It is the heart of city of Kolkata ruled by much touted progressive communists.We all - members of the family woke up because of cries and wimpers feely terribly sad and scared. My mother cursed " why God doesnt punish them?" from her bed where she was lying. You cant even imagine going to police surely cent percent you'd loose one or more of your dear ones or disabled for life or receiving greivous injuries and then you'd see the goons making fun of you!

That was the 40th broad day light murder in the area by the same group of persons I had counted at that time. This group had a nasty way of killing people i.e killing by battering the victims by wooden planks and heavy sticks and destroying the same or by wick blade they call it astura (barbers blade).The goons owed allegiance to Somen Mitra whom they had provided a chamber in one of the buildings out of the the two buildings forcibly occupied near CMO School.This Congress MLA would visit the offices daily in the evening.All the murders and maiming would take place in the open near the place.He was infact privy to all the crimes even a child would testify to this fact.I am unable to carry these in my heart burried any longer.It is too heavy to bear. I am coming with more chilling incidents.They would murder people as matter of factly and devoid of sense of consideration like the butchers in the area. There ypoud find hundreds of people with broken teeth, those whose hands and legs had been broken by them and those with permanent disabilities My old father was one of them whose three front teeth was knocked by the criminals. No one ever went to the police for fear of worse to happen. The police would inform the criminals of the fact.
